Thoughts from a Branson, Missouri attorney.

Stone County Circuit Court

Stone County Circuit Court is one of my favorite places to practice. The judges, prosecutors, clerks, and bailiffs work to ensure that the court process is as convenient as possible for attorneys and their clients.  It is located at 110 S. Maple St. in Galena, Missouri.

The presiding judge in Stone County is former State Senator Hon. Jack Goodman. The 39th judicial circuit is a large one, so Judge Goodman has several courtrooms to be in every week. If you have a case with Judge Goodman, you are likely going to be on the first floor, right behind the metal detectors. As it is for all courts, it is important to show up on time, but particularly to this court, trust me.

If you are facing criminal charges, your first stop will be to Judge Alan Blankenship's courtroom, which is on the second floor at the end of the hallway. Judge Blankenship is the presiding judge for Stone County's Drug Court, which has been heralded throughout the nation for its successes.

If you have a family law matter, you will be going to Judge Mark Stephens, whose courtroom is the first large door on the left after climbing the stairs to the second floor. If it is locked at the time you are supposed to be there, don't knock as there may be a confidential juvenile case or adoption going on.  They'll come get you when they are ready.

The Prosecutor for Stone County is Matt Selby.  His assistant prosecutors are Dayrell Scrivener, John Taylor, and Brynna Howell.
